Mother’s Day in Austin: Six Ways to Show Up with Love

Some things can’t be wrapped in a bow.
Time. Presence. Thoughtfulness.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. And in a city like Austin, where sunshine spills over porches and wildflowers line the sidewalks, there are so many ways to celebrate the women who’ve shaped us—mothers, grandmothers, chosen family, and soul sisters alike.

Here’s a guide to six experiences that say “I see you. I appreciate you. Let’s slow down together.”

1. Brunch Somewhere That Feels Like a Hug

Right-Sizing Isn’t About Less. It’s About More of What Matters. | CallKent Blog

Right-Sizing Isn’t About Less. It’s About More of What Matters.

A lifestyle move with intention — not just less space, but more freedom, more clarity, more you.

There’s a moment when you look around your home and realize it’s no longer quite right.

  • Maybe it’s the empty rooms.
  • Maybe it’s the stairs.
  • Maybe it’s just a sense that what used to work… doesn’t anymore.

Right-sizing — not just downsizing — is about creating space for the life you’re living now, not the one you used to have. And in Austin, that can mean moving to a lock-and-leave condo near the greenbelt, a bungalow in Zilker, or a low-maintenance home that lets you travel more and…

Drive past the airport, past the sprawl, past the last good breakfast taco on 71—and there it is.

Steel. Glass. The future. Maybe.

Tesla’s gigafactory sits like a spaceship in the grasslands, and whether you roll your eyes or lean in, it’s clear: Elon Musk has a lot riding on Austin. And maybe we do too.

Why This Matters (Now, Not Later)

Tesla says its “cybercab” production line is in the works here—yes, robotaxis, the kind with no steering wheel and no pedals. You might see the first ones rolling around Austin streets by this summer.

Also coming (allegedly): more affordable Tesla models, built right here. Same lines, same tech, lower price tag. If they pull it off, that means access. For more people. For this market.

And in a city…

While national headlines love to stir fear, Austin tells a different story. This year, we’re seeing something rare—a window of opportunity for smart buyers who know how to spot it.

Why Timing the Market Isn’t the Only Strategy

Yes, interest rates are up. But buyers who are looking at the full picture—inventory, seller motivation, and local market momentum—are making strategic moves now that will pay off later. And in Austin, where demand rarely disappears for long, waiting may cost more than acting.

What Your Dream Neighborhood Really Costs in Austin Right Now

Let’s cut through the noise: everyone’s talking rates, headlines, and housing corrections. But you’re not buying the market.

You’re buying a neighborhood.

And in Austin, the difference between a $550K bungalow and a $950K two-story stunner can be less about the square footage and more about where it lives.

The New Currency of Location

In 2025, neighborhoods are telling a different story. Some have softened. Some are holding strong. And others are rising quietly while the spotlight’s pointed elsewhere.

Here are a few places we're watching closely:

  • Circle C: Still a go-to for families, but rising inventory has opened the door for below-list deals. Timing matters…

The First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit

Biden’s “First Down Payment Tax Credit,” if implemented, would create a permanent, refundable tax credit for first-time buyers. First-time buyers are defined by the federal government as people who have not owned a residence within the previous three years.

The bill will create a refundable tax credit worth up to 10% of the purchase price, or $15,000. Taxpayers can choose to treat the purchase of their home as occurring in the prior taxable year to receive the credit sooner.

As home prices and demand continue to rise locally and nationally to unrivaled levels, the tax break proposal is set to counter the country's affordability crisis by motivating first-time homebuyers, specifically those in low…
