AUSTIN, TX. – Right now, is an excellent time to buy a home because thanks to historically low mortgage interest rates, homes haven’t been this affordable since 1980.

That’s right, long term affordability has never been better because mortgage interest rates are about 4.5% now compared to 16% in 1980.

The Blackheart announces they'll be closing soon...

Rainey Street's popular Whiskey bar and music venue, The Black Heart announces they will be closing at the end of April.

Music fans and artists alike are dishearten by the news, as it's one of the last standing venues for musicians and a huge advocate for local artists in the Rainey St. District.

Co-owner, Jeremy Murray had been trying to renew the lease for months only to discover a new group, Goodmates LLC will be taking over the space.

Tax Day is only weeks away and if you haven’t filed your taxes yet you’re in luck because there are tax deductions you can take advantage of which will lower your taxes.

Mortgage Interest Deduction

If you purchased your home before December 15th of last year, you can still deduct all of the interest on your mortgage loan up to $1Million dollars.

The mortgage interest deduction will still be available to anyone who buys a home this year but the deductible is going to be capped at just $750,000.
