Searching for things to do in Austin Texas this weekend? If so, you’ve come to the right place!

There’s never a shortage of things to do in Austin, even during January! In this article, I will list for you several things to do in Austin this weekend.

Doom Forge Day at Jester King Brewery

12 to 10 p.m. Jan. 26. Free. 13187 Fitzhugh Rd.

Celebrate the magic of metal music with Jester King. The farmhouse brewery has collaborated with Evil Twin Brewing to produce the Even More Metal, a bourbon barrel-aged farmhouse-style imperial stout with smoked Ugandan vanilla beans, and will release it in bottles. The day will also have a lineup of local doom metal bands, a live metal-working demonstration from Fearghal Blades and a beer foam mustache competition judged by the Austin Facial Hair Club. Jester King is also tapping a variety of guest stouts from (512) Brewing, Prairie Artisan Ales and more.

“Paradise”

8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday through Feb. 3. $20-$40. 6001 Airport Blvd.

Austin Playhouse stages the regional premiere of a new bluegrass musical about a down-on-its-luck Southern coal mining town. Paradise, as it’s called, gets a big dose of reality when a charismatic preacher, saucy stripper and greedy Hollywood production company show up to create their own versions of the American dream. The sharp Southern satire comes to town after a sold-out run in Los Angeles.

Beerthoven Concert Series: HeBrews

7:30 p.m. Jan. 25, 3 p.m. Jan. 27. $10-$25. Austin Saengerrunde, 1607 San Jacinto Blvd.

Beerthoven raises a glass to music of Jewish origin, such as the celebratory sounds of klezmer, the meditative music of Yom Kippur and the memorializing songs of the Holocaust. Composer Gustav Mahler also had major influence. Performers in this two-day show include pianist Xin Chang, baritone David Small, cellist Seth Russell, and clarinetist Luz Sarmiento. Beerthoven events include free beer, wine, and other refreshments and are family-friendly.

Pinthouse Pizza’s First Ever Can Release

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 26. Free. 2800 Hoppe Trl., Round Rock.

Pinthouse Pizza started with growlers in 2012, introduced crowlers in 2017 and, with the imminent arrival of its latest brewpub in Round Rock, will launch four-packs of 16 oz. cans this weekend. Get a first look at the new space when picking up Crispy Waves Hazy IPA to go. It’ll also be on draft, and you can stay for a limited number of snacks as well. The Round Rock location is not open for business yet; Saturday is an exception in celebration of the cans.

Lesly Reynaga at Waterloo Records

5 p.m. Jan. 27. Free. 600 N. Lamar Blvd.

Mexican native Lesly Reynaga recorded her EP, “Dual Passport,” while racing to complete her citizenship test in time to vote in the 2018 midterm election. Consequently, immigration emerges as a dominant theme in the vibrant collection of Spanglish pop songs from the former featured soloist of the University of Texas Mariachi ensemble. We’ll be on hand to introduce her as our January Artist of the Month. — Deborah Sengupta Stith
