AUSTIN, TX. – This week Realtor.com named Austin Texas as the best city in the United States for making new friends because we have more meetup groups than any other city in the United States, lots of fun places to hang out and plenty of fun things to do in the area.
If you’re new in town here is a list of great places to meet people in Austin Texas.
Rainey Street
One of the many great things about life in Austin is that there are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from in the city, especially on Rainey Street since the area has a young, hip, vibe but you don’t have to necessarily be a hipster there to have a good time. J
Our favorite spot to hang out on Rainey Street is Javelina, (69 Rainey St), here you will find friendly bartenders, excellent drinks, and fun bar games. Don’t be afraid to order an obscure drink like the Mariachi when you visit Javelina because you will impress the bartenders and possibly start a conversation or two.
Franklin Barbecue
In Austin, one of the things that we love is a good barbecue, and one of our favorite places to enjoy delicious barbecued meat is at Franklin Barbecue (900 E 11th St). What’s even better about grabbing some delicious BBQ here is the Saturday morning line because locals are known to line up here as early as 8:00 am and bring a lawn chair as you wait in line with other locals.
Zilker Park
Last of all, but most important, another great place to meet new people in Austin is Zilker Park (2100 Barton Springs Rd). At 350 acres it’s easy to see why this is one of the top spots in Austin to meet new people because the park is a hot spot for concerts during the year like the Austin City Limits Music Festival and it’s also a great place to ride, walk, hike or bike too.
