Planning on buying an Austin Texas home? If so, like most buyers you’re going to have the home inspected but do you know what to ask the inspector after the home inspection is finished?
In this article, we will provide you with several easy questions that you should ask a home inspector after they’ve finished inspecting your future home.
Question #1 – What Does It All Mean?
The question that’s asked a home inspector is “what does it all mean?” because it’s not uncommon for them to hand the home buyer an inspection report and then say “adios!”.
If you want to avoid overwhelm and the hassle of trying to read the home inspection report yourself, you should make the effort to stop the inspector before they leave the home and ask them what all or key parts of the report mean.
Taking the time to ask your home inspector questions will make your life a lot easier and simplify the hassle of having to understand the home inspection report.
Question #2 – Major Problem or Minor Problem?
Another important thing to ask a home inspector after they hand you the report is if specific issues that they pointed out are major or minor problems. You want to do this because if the home obviously is going to need major repair and or renovations but if it has minor issues that can be resolved over time then you may feel more comfortable with moving forward and buying the home.
Question #3 – Should You Call in An Expert?
Last of all, but most important, another important question to ask a home inspector while they are reviewing a home that you potentially want to buy is if you should call an expert or not to check out one or all of the major issues that they’ve flagged for repair.
You will want to follow through with asking this question because if the home has problems with the HVAC, air conditioner, pool or spa, you will need to call in a contractor who specializes in those areas and can give you an accurate price to get them fixed.
