AUSTIN, TX. – Data Foundry announced this week that they will be building a 325,000 square foot data center at their Data Ranch in Austin, Texas.
The $200 million data center will be called Texas 2; it’s going to be built right next to their first data center, Texas 1, and the company hopes to have their new data center open for business by Q3 in 2017.
Silicon Hills
The announcement of their new data center is big news for Austin because it further cements the Silicon Hills image of Austin Texas in the minds of technology companies and start-ups in California and across the United States who have been searching for a more affordable, tech-friendly alternative to the harsh tax environments, and high cost of living that many companies are facing these days.
In Austin tech companies and start-ups will benefit from our growing tech community, affordable cost of living and excellent real estate prices which make Austin the number one location for growing or starting a business in 2016-2017.
About The Texas 2 Data Center
Like their Texas 1 data center, we can expect Texas 2 to have the same high level of options including dual power feeds, eight layers of security, multiple carrier entry points, excellent power/cooling and so much more.
Why Austin Is A Great Place For Data Centers
As more companies move their data to the cloud Austin Texas stands out as a highly desirable location for their disaster recovery needs because our city has few natural disaster when compared to other states and what’s best of all is that our power grid is independent of the rest of the United States so if the U.S. power grid goes down, Austin’s power grid will still be up.
