Clarksville

One of the oldest and most desirable districts in Austin because Clarksville continues to retain it's charm and integrity that went into homes which were built years ago. When you move to Clarksville you will enjoy a quick commute to Downtown Austin but you will still be far enough away from the city to enjoy peace and quiet after your long day at work is over.

CLARKSVILLE HOMES FOR SALE

Clarksville homes for sale are located just west of downtown Austin, near Lady Bird Lake. An eclectic and highly desirable area, it was originally part of a 365-acre tract of land belonging to Texas Governor Elisha Pease, and in 1871 it was sold to Charles Clark, a freed slave who would start the community that now bears his name. Clark built a house on what is now West Tenth Street and subdivided the remainder of the land to other freedman.

Today Clarksville boasts fine dining, outdoor cafes, million dollar homes, modern townhomes, and small craftsman style homes. Naus Drug Store and Soda Fountain originally opened in 1950 and Anthony's Dry Cleaners sit side by side on West Lynn and are some of the most well-known landmarks in Austin. Walking distance to Whole Foods and the surrounding areas, Clarksville real estate is a highly desirable commodity, which is not surprising given that the neighborhood is full of charm and history.
