AUSTIN, TX. – This week Travis County Commissioners approved the plans for Thomas Ranch, a development which will bring a combination of over 3,300 homes, apartments, townhomes and businesses to the Austin / Western Travis County area, and also select portion of eastern Burnet County as well.
Bringing Jobs, Homes and More Opportunity to Central Texas
Thomas Ranch will be a master planned development encompassing a residential hotel, marketplace with shops, entertainment venues and many more amenities which are projected to bring more residents and revenue to the Austin area.
Since construction is going to last for 20 years, Thomas Ranch will certainly be a “game changer” for Central Texas because it’s going to be much more than just a “sea” of residential homes, which are common in many developments across the United States.
About Thomas Ranch
Where will Thomas Ranch be located in Central Texas? The proposed development will be located near the Austin Golf Club, 1,676 acres within Travis County, and 546 acres in the Burnet County area.
The property stretches from State Highway 71 in the south, north along Paleface Ranch Road before hugging the cliffs overlooking the final stretch of the Pedernales River before it intersects with the Colorado River upstream from Lake Travis. According to documents filed with the County Commissioners Court, the project will include 2,800 residential units in Travis County, 300 of which are planned to be multifamily units. Another 500 units would be in neighboring Burnet County.
The project is backed by Wilmette, Illinois-based developer Blakefield LLC. A website set up for the project highlights a number of planned features for the project, including more than 500 acres of open space and parkland amenities.
The project would be built in three regional phases, dubbed Texas Town, Hilltop and Cliffside. If all goes to plan, the entire project would be built out over the next 20 years. The company has previously worked with the redevelopment of Republic Square in Houston's Energy Corridor and the Woodlands Township master-planned community in The Woodlands outside of Houston among its roster of prior projects.
