Thanks to a recent report from Greenhouse Treatment, we know that Austin Texas is considered to be the 10th best city in the United States with the strongest sense of community.
This is good news for Austin because anyone who moves to a new community knows that it can sometimes be difficult starting over in a new city but thanks to this news more people will feel comfortable coming to Austin because they know that they can easily connect with other members of the community here.
What Makes A Community?
The Greenhouse Treatment survey was based on a variety of metrics including: community events, walk score, crime and community happiness.
As for community events, the capital city known as the "live music capital of Texas" surely doesn't disappoint. There's a little festival called SXSW you might've heard of that ended on Sunday yielding a dizzying array of entertainment offerings March. Parks abound in Austin, with Zilker park serving as the centerpiece of the park system that city officials dub the "crown jewel" of the recreational patchwork. The network of trails in Austin is labyrinthine and expansive.
Other than Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, not other Texas city made the top 50 list of cities with the strongest sense of community. To see the full rankings, click here. Spoiler alert: The top city on the list is Los Angeles (really?!?!). Rounding out the top 5 were: San Francisco, New York City, San Diego (CA) and Boston.
